Company Experiences Phenominal Growth
-->
2/15/2004
In fall 2001, when the elderly and disabled of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties were stranded by the abrupt pullout of their transportation carrier, Margie Wilcox, owner of Mobile Bay Transportation, stepped up. In an astonishing 48 hours, she staffed and equipped Pensacola Bay Transportation. The opportunity to become a part of the Pensacola community was a huge stepping-stone in the company's long-range goal of expansion of transportation operations along the Gulf Coast. Pensacola Bay's airport shuttle division offers transportation to and from all Gulf Coast airports.Our relationship with Pensacola began by providing citizens with approximately 400 Para-Transit transportation trips for special-needs patrons daily. The Para-Transit Division provides accessible, reliable transportation to the elderly and disabled citizens of Pensacola. The team immediately recognized the potential for business growth in the Pensacola area, and Pensacola Bay Transportation joined the Pensacola Chamber. Becoming a member of the Pensacola chamber and a tourism partner gave Pensacola Bay a wealth of resource through chamber staff, as well as access to other business professionals flourishing in the Pensacola market.In December 2003, Pensacola Bay was appointed as the emergency community transportation coordinator for Escambia and Santa Rosa counties. This division of Pensacola Bay is flourishing, employing over 125 staff members under the direction of Les Solberg, PBY general manager. Mobile Bay/Pensacola Bay is the largest regional transportation company on the Gulf Coast.We have evolved by adding a variety of services. This expansion has allowed us to provide a dependable source of mobility for everyone, including seniors, special needs clients, conventioneers, corporate clients and visitors alike.
